Summary of I Am the Messenger
The book begins with a deposit robbery. Ed Kennedy, the protagonist, and Marv, his very meager friend, are in the marge at the time. Neither of them come across the gunman seriously, Ed beneficial wishes he would hurry up, and Marv exactly wants to get out of the stick so that he enkindle move his auto and void a parking ticket. The gunman, sincereizing that his current getaway car is missing, demands Marvs keys. Running to Marvs car, he drops his gun, and due to the general unequal quality of Marvs car, cannot practice to start it. Ed, for some power that not even he understands, runs out, grabs the gun, and pins the gunman in the car until the police arrive. He withal takes a couple shots at the car, and breaks a window. Afterwards, the police fountainhead Marv and Ed. Marv claims that he cannot buy a new car because he has other priorities, and refuses Eds offer to replace his window. At the trial, Ed testifies against the gunman, and he is convicted to 6 months. B efore Ed is qualified to leave though, the gunman tells him that whatever time [Ed looks] in the mirror, [he should] think up [he is] expression at a dead man.\nEd plays cards. He drives taxicabs. He has no real respect for himself. He wishes he could be something greater, feels that he has any now way to strive this. He lives with his dog in a house that is owned by his boss (founder and music director of Vacant Taxis). He comes from ace of the less developed sections of town, with often worthless parents. After graduating from exalted school, he went straight into the solve force, having not applied himself abounding to get into university. His mother quiet down lives in the house where Ed grew up, and has developed a loaded swearing habit and a bit of a tempter. Eds father died approximately six months ago and passed on his dog, the Doorman, to him. The Dog smells like death.
